HER MAJESTY, QUEEN ELIZABETH II

21 APRIL 1926 – 8 SEPTEMBER 2022

The Mayor, Councillors and Officers of Aldeburgh Town Council are profoundly saddened to learn of the death of Her Majesty, the Queen. Our thoughts and prayers are with His Majesty King Charles III and all members of the Royal family at this immensely poignant time.

With effect from today (9 September 2022) there will be a period of national mourning.

As a mark of respect, the Union Flag will fly at half-mast on Moot Green, with one brief exception, when the proclamation of the new monarch is made.

Books of condolence are available in The Moot Hall and Aldeburgh Library. An online Book of Condolence has been placed at www.suffolk.gov.uk/condolences  Floral tributes may be placed on the lawned area at the War Memorial and further information will be provided in due course at www.aldeburghtowncouncil.co.uk to ensure that all residents and visitors are provided with the information they require to pay their respects to Her Majesty, the Queen and her unwavering life of service to the country, the Commonwealth and the world.
